The Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) was founded in 1985, with the goals of promoting the interdisciplinary study of food and society. It has continued that mission by holding annual meetings; the first of which was in 1987.
NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange. NAFSA’s 10,000 members are located at more than 3,500 institutions worldwide, in over 150 countries.
Food Studies Knowledge Community is brought together around a common interest in exploring new possibilities for sustainable food production and human nutrition.The community interacts through an innovative, annual face-to-face conference, as well as year-round online relationships, a peer reviewed journal, and book series – exploring the affordances of the new digital media.
ASIANetwork is a consortium of 170 North American colleges. It strives to strengthen the role of Asian Studies within the framework of liberal arts education to help prepare succeeding generations of undergraduates for a world in which Asian societies play prominent roles in an ever more interdependent world.
Food+City, a 501c3 non-profit, grew out of The Food Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, and is directed by Dr. Robyn Metcalfe in Austin. Food+City is a platform for bold exploration of the global food system; it provokes fresh perspectives on the realities of how we feed cities, inspiring and fostering action. The Food+City stories, told in many forms, will raise awareness of the opportunities for improvement in our food systems and uncover the insights that will shape how we make our world sustainable.
The LEXICON OF SUSTAINABILITY™ is based on a simple premise: to engage, inspire and promote principles of sustainability. The Lexicon uses information artwork, short films, street art, educational curriculum and the new book, Local: The New Face of Food and Farming in America, to bring awareness to the terms and principles that will define the next economy.
Thought for Food (TFF) is a movement dedicated to tackling the global challenge of feeding 9 billion people through bold, breakthrough solutions.
Real Food Media Project, a collaborative initiative using online movies and a web-based action center along with grassroots events around the country to spread the stories of sustainable food and farming. The Project is a program of Corporate Accountability International.
AMI EXPO celebrates the pleasures of healthy food and the heritage of the Italian culture, and wants to promote the special features of the Mediterranean food, to deepen the knowledge of the typical productions and their agro – food productive chain, to sustain the principles of a correct food education and a stronger awareness of the importance of natural and healthy eating.
Cerealia is a festival dedicated to all grains, as happened in the ancient Roman rites of Vesta and Ceres, the Ludi. In a broader view, the festival is extended to all countries of the Mediterranean area. Cerealia wants to spread knowledge and awareness of the value of land and indigenous cultures, re-establish the links between the area of production and the consumer’s table, even reviving old customs and traditions, based on respect for the earth and its fruits.
The Italian Network for Local Food Policies (Rete Italiana Politiche Locali del Cibo) is a network made up of more than 180 academics, researchers, administrators and activists involved in the planning of sustainable territorial food systems.

WE-Women for Expo is an Expo Milano 2015 project developed in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori. It is a network of women from around the world who speak out and act jointly on the subjects of food and sustainability, and do so placing women’s culture at the heart of an international exposition for the very first time.
The Neo-Agri association is building an international network of new-peasants and established farmers in agroecology in order to help aspiring new-farmers, by compiling and disseminating resources and testimonies.
Hunger Run is a yearly event organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP) and Bioversity International with the technical support of Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani and the cooperation of the City of Rome.
