Summer: Critical Studies on Food in Italy Program

Fees Summer 2020
Fee includes tuition for up to nine credits, program activities, excursions, 5 days outside of Rome, and shared apartments.

Credit transfer fees (if applicable). A transcript from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst is available for these courses.  $ 400

Summer Academic Internship in Italy

Program fee includes all instructional and support fees, internship related transportation expenses within Italy, internship placement, visa assistance, housing assistance, pre-departure guidance, on-site safety and cultural orientation, cell phone and sim card, city transportation card, intern services and learning support services, 24/7 emergency phone support, welcome and farewell meals, final symposium activities and tastings, materials, record of study and re-entry support. May vary depending on exchange rates.

Internship in Rome

1 month – $ 4,706, 2 months –  $7,335, 3 months – $ 9,690, 4 months – $ 11,241

Internship out of Rome but within Lazio region

Internship in other regions of Italy

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES

All students should anticipate additional out-of-pocket expenses. These will vary considerably based on your personal needs and choices. Typical students will encounter the following additional expenses (may vary depending on exchange rates).

Miscellaneous expenses are estimates of out-of-pocket expenses reported by prior students. Requests for single accommodations will be considered on a space-available basis. Additional fees will apply. Students attending the Summer Critical Studies on Food in Italy program may request a transcript from the University of Massachusetts for a fee of $400.

 

INSURANCE: All students are required to enroll in a select insurance policy with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). Price varies between $ 100 and $ 300 based on program length. Prices and enrollment procedures will be sent to you with your acceptance letter.

 

DEPOSITS: A non-refundable down-payment ($400) to reserve your participation is due after your acceptance notice. A housing deposit of $200 is due on receipt of apartment keys. The housing provider conducts several inspections throughout the program. The final inspection with the landlords/agents will take place at the end of the semester. If any excessive damages (beyond normal wear& tear) are found you will be notified by the program and you will be charged. If the damages exceed the initial $200, you will be informed and charged.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY FOR THE OPEN ENROLLMENT PROGRAMS

A total refund (excluding the $400 non-refundable deposit) will be made if a student withdraws 60 days before the beginning of a program.

A 50% refund (excluding the $400 non-refundable deposit) will be made if students withdraw from 30-60 days before the beginning of a program.

No refunds will be made if withdrawal is made within 30 days of the beginning of a program.

Upon arrival in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever in case the student decides to cancel, change or vacate the assigned housing.
