We eat with our eyes before we eat with our mouths, the saying goes, but the concept of design applied to food has to do with much more than just deliciousness.

Design thinking is a way of configuring problems and solutions that have both personal and global implications. Food design is a new field of inquiry and practice that had been receiving growing interest both among professionals and consumers. In preparation to the Second International Food Design Conference that will take place at The New School in NYC in November 2015, let’s discuss what food design is, its impact, and how it is taught.
