Student Support
Gustolab International Food Systems and Sustainability runs academic programs in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters and well as short-term programs. We welcome students, both undergraduate and graduate, interested in exploring food and sustainability related topics at sites across Italy. We have extensive experience designing and implementing custom academic programs in cooperation with U.S. and international institutions. We also have programs open to qualified students from institutions of higher education across the world. Students do not need any prior knowledge of Italian language. We are happy to work with the student’s home institution to facilitate credit recognition.
BEFORE
With GLi students will be supported every step of the way, including during the pre-departure period.
DURING
The safety, health and wellness of our students is a central concern of Gustolab International Food Systems and Sustainability.
Wellness and Safety Advisor support. In the case of an emergency, the advisor is ready to implement an emergency response plan.
An Italian cellphone is provided to all students for the duration of the program, in order to contact them in case of emergency.
Gustolab International requires all students to enroll in an insurance policy with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI).
On site safety and security orientation. Lists of hospitals, physicians, counselors and pharmacies in Rome are provided to the students.
Outreach organized by the U.S. embassy in Rome during the on site orientation. Students learn about the type of support that they can receive while studying in Italy.
The GLi staff monitors official warnings and alerts to address any additional measures that should be taken (areas to avoid) in the event of an emergency.
