Prospective Students

We offer opportunities for students to study or intern with us throughout the year. In the fall and spring, we have both study abroad and intern abroad programs in Italy, while in the summer, we offer programs in Italy, Japan or Vietnam. Learn more

You will be immersed in a unique environment of constant investigation and discovery by participating in daily Italian life, visiting various neighborhoods, shops, restaurants, and markets.

Courses are richly supplemented by field work, special projects, workshops, excursions, and activities. Your will gain valuable skill sets by stepping outside of the familiar “comfort zone” of home, adapting to a new international context. Our classes are in English. We also offer Italian Language courses for all levels to help you navigate through your study abroad living experience.

The number of credits you can earn varies based on the program you decide to attend and the number of courses you take.  Before applying, students should consult with their home institution about credit recognition and transfer procedures and requirements for study abroad. Gustolab International will assist students in this process by working with the home institution to facilitate credit recognition.  Learn more

Students will receive an electronic Record of Study from GLi at no additional cost.  Transcripts may be available from Portland State University, Gustolab International’s School of Record for an additional fee.  Remember to always consult with your home institution about credit transfer requirements and procedures.

Application Process

Recommended deadlines are: For Spring: September 15, For Summer: February 15, For Fall: February 15.

 

You will find updated and extended deadlines on the program pages.

 

Applicants are encouraged to apply by the recommended deadline, as there are several advantages to doing so including: receipt of an admissions decision early enough to allow for sufficient travel planning time to save on airline tickets, and sufficient visa processing time for international students.

Our programs are open to students from all fields of study. Graduate students, scholars & professionals are also welcome to apply. Learn more.

Planning to study abroad

All our programs include housing accommodations. Locations are in nearby residential areas to encourage students to integrate into the local community. All accommodations are within walking or commuting distance of the school.

We take the safety and security of our program participants very seriously and provide you with the tools to prepare your trip abroad. Our staff is prepared to assist students at any time, day or night, during illness or other emergency situations. We also require all students to enroll in an insurance policy with Cultural Insurance Services International. Learn more at our Safety, Health and Wellness page.

Yes, there are many ways for students to study at GLi. We can create an affiliation with your institution to pre-approve GLi courses. This typically guarantees your students will receive full credit for their study at GLi. Students can study with us and petition your institution for credit.
